Jayhawks on Parade is an art-icon event that will enliven Lawrence’s street corners through early-November 2003. Five-foot tall fiberglass Jayhawks, sponsored by area businesses or individuals and decorated by area artists, are exhibited outdoors throughout the city for the public to enjoy and as a celebration of the Jayhawk and the city it calls home.

The event, which also serves as a reminder of the partnership between the Lawrence community and the university, is providing more than a dozen area non-profit organizations with an opportunity to fundraise, by having been selected as beneficiaries of the event by sponsors.

The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau and its advisory board is presenting the event in conjunction with the University of Kansas and Downtown Lawrence Inc.

The Jayhawks range in style from whimsical to way-out there and each one has a personality all its own. You have to see them to believe them – so start planning your visit soon!
